TR35 - Joyce Poon

Assistant Professor

Joyce Poon is an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Toronto and the Canada Research Chair in Integrated Photonic Devices. She obtained a PhD in electrical engineering from Caltech in 2007 and a BASc in engineering science (physics option) from the University of Toronto in 2002. She is the recipient of an IBM Faculty Award (2010, 2011), an Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation Early Researcher Award (2009), a NSERC University Faculty Award (2008), and the Clauser Doctoral Thesis Prize from Caltech (2007). Her group conducts research in micro- and nano-scale photonics for high-speed and energy-efficient communications.
